Privacy Notice
Last updated:
This Privacy Notice explains how MounLab (“MounLab,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit mounlab.com (the “Website”). It does not apply to our apps. Each app has its own privacy policy, listed on our Legal page:
- Reimburse Note — Privacy Policy
- Gloss — Privacy Policy
By using the Website, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Notice.
1. Who We Are
MounLab is an independent software studio and is responsible for the personal information described in this Privacy Notice. You can contact us at support@mounlab.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only a limited amount of information through the Website.
Information you provide. When you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any information you choose to include.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Website, our hosting and security provider receives standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, the referring page, and the date and time of your visit.
Analytics information. Unless you turn analytics off, we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to collect information about how you use the Website, such as pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, time spent on pages, scrolling and mouse movements, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device and browser information. Microsoft Clarity may also create session replays and heatmaps that show how visitors interact with pages.
Your cookie choice. We store your cookie choice in a cookie on your device so that we do not ask you again on every visit.
We do not ask you to create an account on the Website, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through it.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- operate, maintain, and secure the Website, and prevent abuse;
- understand how visitors use the Website and improve its content and design, unless you turn analytics off;
- respond to your questions and support requests;
- remember your cookie choice;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use; and
- protect the rights, property, and safety of MounLab, our users, and others.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests, to operate and secure the Website, understand how it is used so we can improve it (analytics), respond to your messages, and remember your cookie choice. You can object to analytics at any time by turning it off in Cookie settings.
- Legal obligation, where we must process information to comply with the law.
5. Cookies and Analytics
Analytics cookies and scripts load when you visit the Website unless you turn analytics off. If you turn it off, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are not loaded and we delete the analytics cookies that we can access. You can change your choice at any time through Cookie settings on our Cookie Policy page. For details, see our Cookie Policy.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers. We use providers that help us host and secure the Website, provide analytics, and receive and manage email. They may process information only to provide services to us or as otherwise described in their own terms.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is required by law, legal process, or a government request, or that it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of MounLab, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If MounLab is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your consent. We may share information for other purposes with your consent.
7. International Data Transfers
MounLab and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or our providers’ certifications, for these transfers.
8. Data Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. In general:
- analytics data and server logs are kept for a limited period under our retention settings and those of our service providers; aggregated reports that do not identify you may be kept longer;
- support emails are kept for as long as needed to respond and keep a record of our communication; and
- your cookie choice is kept for up to 12 months, or until you change it or clear your cookies.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable format; and
- object to analytics at any time by turning it off, without affecting processing that took place before you did so.
You can turn analytics off through Cookie settings on our Cookie Policy page. To make any other request, email support@mounlab.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. Because we collect very little information through the Website, we may not be able to identify information about you in some cases.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Additional Information for U.S. Residents
Certain U.S. state privacy laws give residents rights to know about, access, correct, and delete their personal information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information, the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and targeted advertising.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising. Because of this, we do not offer an opt-out of these activities, and we do not respond differently to “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. You can turn analytics on the Website off at any time through Cookie settings.
You may submit a request, or have an authorized agent submit one on your behalf, by emailing support@mounlab.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
11. Children's Privacy
The Website is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where a higher age applies under local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Third-Party Links and Services
The Website links to third-party websites and services, such as the App Store and social media platforms. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
14. Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we make a material change to how we use analytics, we will show the cookie notice again. Your continued use of the Website after an update means you acknowledge the updated Privacy Notice.
